Grants and Funding - European Funding

The European Commission awards money in the form of grants to implement projects or activities in relation to European Union policies. These grants may be awarded within fields as diverse as research, education, health, consumer protection and the environment. Grants involve working in partnership with other European countries.

While we make every effort to keep these pages up to date, the grants and funding available change on a regular basis. If you know of any funds not listed on these pages, or if you discover a link which is no longer working, please let us know at seaspacenetworks@seeda.co.uk.

Climate Action – Energy for a changing world

The EU offers many different kinds of funding for environmental and energy related projects – mainly through ‘calls for proposals’ and public tenders. Funding is available through:

  • Energy and transport programmes
  • Environmental programmes
  • Research & innovation programmes

European Investment Fund

The European Investment Fund’s (EIF) activity is based in two areas, venture capital and guarantees:

  • EIF’s venture capital instruments consist of equity investments in venture capital funds and business incubators that support SMEs, particularly those that are early stage and technology-oriented;
  • EIF’s guarantee instruments consist of providing guarantees to financial institutions that cover credits to SMEs.

Europeaid

Grants are direct financial contributions from the EU budget or from the European Development Fund. They are awarded as donations to third parties that are engaged in external aid activities.
