Life Beyond Work - Entertainment

Business aside, Hastings and Bexhill are wonderful places to live and relax.
Art and Culture
Long known as a retreat for artists, the area is on the ‘cultural south coast’, marked by a vibrant arts and festival scene.
The Sussex bonfires, Jack in the Green event, Hastings Old Town Carnival and Coastal Currents arts festival are unforgettable annual events. Each night, a spectacular lighting scheme illuminates the seafront and the ruins of Hastings Castle.
The iconic Grade 1-listed 1930s De La Warr Pavilion on Bexhill seafront has been transformed into a major contemporary arts centre, drawing visitors from all across the UK and Europe.
Live music and comedy venues, theatres and independent cinemas provide a choice of entertainment throughout the year.
Food and Drink
The towns are perfect places for gourmets. Fish is landed at Hastings by Europe’s largest beach-launched fleet. Hastings’ herring, mackerel and Dover sole fisheries are two of only 14 in the world to hold the strict Marine Stewardship Council certificate for environmentally friendly fishing.
The area also produces a wide range of other wonderful local produce - from cheese to wine, beer, fruit and free-range meat.
The annual Seafood & Wine Festival celebrates this heritage and there’s a wide choice of restaurants, pubs, bars and cafés to suit every palate.
