Life Beyond Work - Housing

Housing
A wide variety of desirable homes is available in the Hastings and Bexhill area, at extremely affordable prices.
Hastings Old Town is a great example of a medieval town, full of ‘twittens’ (winding lanes) and haphazard Tudor houses.
St Leonards is an outstanding Regency town, designed and built by the celebrated James Burton from 1828.
Bexhill was expanded significantly in Victorian times as an elegant seaside resort.
In the area today, a great many Regency, Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian homes – as well as modern developments – are available to buy and rent.
These offer far greater value for money than the vast majority of the south east. As examples, here were five homes on the market in 2009:
- A spacious 4 bedroom semi-detached Victorian house with period features and extensive garden, overlooking Hastings’ beautiful Alexandra Park – £295,000
- A modern 4 bedroom detached family house with corner garden in Hastings – £209,950
- A 5 bedroom Edwardian farmhouse overlooking country park nature reserve with views to the sea, established garden of about ¾ of an acre, 4 miles outside of Hastings – £795,000.
- A 2 bedroom flat next to small park for rent in Hastings town centre – £500 a month
- A luxury two bedroom flat on Bexhill seafront – £270,000
