Sea Space is working to create a corridor of technology and business parks on the outskirts of Hastings and Bexhill, stretching up Queensway towards the A21 route to London and along the forthcoming link road between Hastings and Bexhill.
The core market for this is companies in environmental innovation – spanning energy, recycling, water, waste and associated services plus any other firms in searchof environmentally exemplary premises. Buildings and sites will be built to the highest environmental specifications, to make the most of our natural heritage and attract organisations in the environmental technologies and services sector.
Reasons For Development
The Queensway area is already home to several business and industrial estates including Churchfields and Castleham. We want to encourage new employers to the area, to complement the existing businesses and create a wider range of jobs.
Timings
- The first phase of the business parks will be on Queensway South followed by Queensway North. Planning applications will be submitted over the next two years.
- Wind monitoring mast planning application: Submitted September 2007
- Queensway South business units planning application: Submitted November 2007
- Queensway South business units start of construction: Anticipated spring/summer 2008
- Queensway North business units planning application: Anticipated summer 2008
Further Information
The first development site will be Queensway South, opposite Napier Road. This will consist of nine business units incorporating workshop and office space. The site will also include an Innovation Exchange - a space for businesses, students and residents including a restaurant, conference and meeting rooms and exhibition space.
A second site at Queensway North has also been identified which could accommodate a further nine business units.
The Enviro21 Innovation Parks will be linked to the Innovation Centre and the Product Development Centre based there.
