Projects - South Queensway Enviro21 Park

Click to enlarge (opens in a new window)

South Queensway, opposite Napier Road in St Leonards, is the first development site for the Enviro21 Parks.

The Queensway area is already home to several businesses and industrial estates including those at Churchfields and Castleham.

The scheme includes eleven high quality units, arranged within eight buildings, each providing a combination of manufacturing and office space, ranging in size from 575 to 1,360. They have been designed to blend with the surrounding scenic countryside, including the adjoining Marline Woods Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

The Exchange centre at South Queensway will be an exhibition, conference and meeting venue with a sustainable restaurant. The Exchange is intended for use by the Park’s occupiers, the wider business community, education parties and the public.

We are currently building the first four units within three buildings and The Exchange.

Wind Power

Our aim is to make the Enviro21 Innovation Park at South Queensway —and future park development at North Queensway —carbon neutral through the installation of a single 2 Megawatt (MW) wind turbine.

A wind monitoring mast was installed at South Queensway for 12 months to assess the wind profile. The studies show that the site has an excellent wind profile and that a single 2MW turbine would generate sufficient electricity to match the demands of the occupiers at South and North Queensway with a surplus.

The maximum height of the turbine to the hub will be approximately 80m.

Reasons For Development

Attracting companies in the enviromental technologies sector will create a thriving community of sustainable businesses that can enjoy all the benefits of networking and collaboration with like-minded colleagues.

This will encourage new employers to the area to complement the existing businesses and create a wider range of jobs.

The way the park is built and operates, and the activities which take place on the park, will make a contribution to tackling the challenges of global warming.
